I am an innovative educator with a love for creative problem-solving, currently looking to transition out of the classroom.As the physics team lead, I have worked to create structural changes to our curriculum and lab management system to help us become a more effective team. During the Covid-19 pandemic, I focused on modifying our curriculum design to meet the needs of an online classroom. As we transitioned back into the classroom, I led my team as we restructured our curriculum to meet new VA Standards of Learning, facilitating meetings in which we discussed which units needed to be rewritten or removed. I also developed the system we are using to keep track of our lab inventory, which had not been updated in over a decade.Within my own classroom, I have worked to be innovative in my approach to teaching and learning. I was part of one of the first adopters of the Modern Classrooms Program, focusing on leveraging one-to-one technology to develop self-paced, mastery-focused units that meet individualized student needs. Due to this work, enrollment in high-level physics electives at my school has more than doubled.
