About Anna Hansel
I want to open myself to opportunities to not only better myself, but better those around me. I believe that a teacher should create a structured environment, develop routine (but not be afraid to break routine at times), and be a positive role model for students. In my lessons, I use a variety of techniques to get students involved and interested in what they are working on (inquiry-based, projects, activities, hands-on, visual, auditory, technology, etc). I believe students have to understand how to work together with adults and their peers and be able to express and discuss their ideas in a respectful manner. Teenagers, and adults unfortunately, are not learning the building blocks of mathematics- the fundamentals that are built into every math skill learned after those basics. As a Title 1 educator, I strive to ensure that those i work with are learning and building a stronger understanding of the mathematics skills that they need to know for their schooling, but also day to day life. I am constantly researching about new techniques to incorporate into my classroom.
