The Iowa Court Appointed Special Advocate Program recruits, trains and supports community volunteers to serve as an effective voice in court for abused and neglected children, strengthening efforts to ensure that each child is living in a safe, permanent and nurturing home. The Court Appointed Special Advocate is typically assigned one case at a time and does a variety of things to promote the child's best interests: investigation, assessment, facilitation, monitoring and advocacy.CASAs are recruited to serve in all 99 Iowa counties.

-Draft and submit guardian ad litem reports, motions, and proposed orders-Participate in removal hearings, adjudications, review hearings and TPR trials-Attend family team meetings-Make house and shelter visits

-Drafted memoranda-Performed legal research; attended attorney-client meetings-Attended trials in district court and jail court-Delivered and filed motions-Observed depositions

-Read and brief cases for constitutional data base compilation-Researched precedent for pending cases-Observed multiple appealed cases-Attended informational at the DCI (Criminalistics Laboratory)

- Removed flawed garments- Made touch ups to printing mistakes- Cleaned and prepped ink screens- Took inventoryof incoming and outgoing products- Worked the manual and digit printing press- Worked the manual and digital dryers

-Worked with the Men's and Women's wear head designers and design team-Created a final project that included an inspiration board, men's and women's concept boards, 2-D flats, and final key look designs (many of which are to be produced in Fall of 2011)-Designed concept boards - Developed spec sheets-Arranged Fabric Library-Set up models and outfits for Saks buyers presentation-Set up manikins for men's wear buyer presentation-Organized fashion samples
