I have worked in Education as a teacher, lecturer, deputy principal and principal over a long career. I graduated in 1989 and apart from some time off with my own children have been involved in teaching and learning since 1990. I am currently employed as principal/tumuaki at Goldfields Primary School in Cromwell, Central Otago.I love the challenge of principalship. My school is in a town with a growing population. The growing, changing population of our school is both exciting and challenging. Leading a school community over the last three covid disrupted years has at times been stressful so a focus on staff and student wellbeing has been essential to help us navigate difficult times.I am also current chair of the Cromwell Community Board. This local government role has added a different set of skills and responsibilities and has in particular deepened my understanding of governance. I love this connection to my community in a wider context than my school.
