I managed all visitor services, educational programs, and public outreach efforts of a national park site with annual visitation of over 40,000 people/year. This included preparing and presenting science programs such as the biological principals and management of invasive species in both the English and Spanish languages. I also prepared and presented cultural resource and history programs and tours for school children and the general public. In addition I assisted with the management of park-wide events and projects, acted as supervisor in the absence of the Supervisory Ranger and edited a program calendar distributed to a media market of over 6 million people. The Department of Interior chose me to train national park staff in Guatemala and serve on the team that evaluated National Parks Service wide training events.

Served as an educator for Bridging the Watershed, a science education outreach partnership of eight national parks, 20 schools and seven non-profit organizations. This included preparing and presenting science studies for secondary students in both the English and Spanish languages and training 150 high school teachers and park rangers in using parks as a teaching tool. I also assisted with the development and publication of science curriculum and an invasive plant species identification guide and gave interviews to the media including National Public Radio.

Paraguay, South America

Trained nine teachers in four schools to incorporate science into the teaching curriculum in the Spanish, Guarani, and Portuguese languages. Developed and published a teacher manual in the Spanish language illustrating how to use the school garden as a tool to teach science.
