My name is Dr. Anna Herath (pronounced “hair–eth”), and I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I grew up in East Moline, Illinois where I spent the majority of my time riding hunters and jumpers.For my undergraduate studies I attended the University of Illinois, where I completed a degree in Animal Sciences, and was very active in the Illini Equestrians all four years. In 2009 I graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. Upon completion of my veterinary degree I moved to Wisconsin and completed a year long internship at the Wisconsin Equine Clinic and Hospital. My internship included advanced training in internal medicine, critical care, reproduction, field service, lameness, and surgery. I was blessed to have an amazing team of 9 veterinarians to mentor myself and my 3 intern mates. I then moved on to equine private practice in the St. Louis area. In 2014 I attended Options for Animals in Olathe, Kansas to study chiropractic care. In February 2015 I completed my International Veterinary Chiropractic Association (IVCA) certification. After 6 years in equine only practice I made the move to small animal general practice, to allow for a better work/life balance. I found I truly missed the horses, so I currently find a nice balance through my chiropractic practice (acupuncture coming in 2024): Equibalance Integrative Veterinary Services, LLC, my regulatory position through Elite Sport Services and picking up relief shifts through Herath Relief Veterinary Services, LLC.
