Through competitive processes, I was awarded scholarships from my University and the Modern Law Review to undertake a PhD. My PhD focused on the engagement of academic stem cell scientists with the patent system. Whilst researching for my thesis, I delivered a number of presentations at international conferences, attended a Summer School at the World.

As a secondment from my PhD studies, I joined the Patent Academy at the European Patent Office for 3 months. This opportunity provided me with a great exposure to the development of patent policy and the nature of working in an international organisation.

During the CRUK Summer Studentship programme I gained laboratory skills. In addition, I was required to interact with people of all different backgrounds and communicate efficiently with them during meetings, seminars, workshops and presentations.
