As a classroom teacher I provided instruction and educational support to students with severe disabilities ranging in age from 13-21. My duties included preparing lesson plans, IEP paperwork, behavior plans, and delivering the instruction to a contained classroom of 9 students. Their needs were varied and often required delegated nursing plans as well as physical restraint plans for the safety of the other students and staff. The classroom was staffed with 4 assistants on average for whom I provided daily schedules and direction as needed. In my role I also collaborated with the hosting school district's administrative team, security personnel, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, nurses, and behavioral specialists. This was an intensive placement with student needs that varied in cognitive, medical, and behavioral severity.
