Birth is one of the most amazing experiences in a woman's life. After 7 years in the corporate world, I have started my own business as a labor doula with Bydand Doula LLC. Bydand means "abiding" and is the motto of my maiden name. Years in product and people management is completely relevant for assisting women in the most important "product delivery" in their lives. It is a joy and honor to assist and encourage families in bringing life into the world. Women need an abiding presence, continual support, in their labor and delivery. Having a doula at your birth reduces the odds of a Cesareans and medical interventions in labor and leads to more positive reflections on birth. Birth is difficult, but beautiful, and does not need to be remembered traumatically.

I was responsible for digital experience optimization to increase conversion per visit and overall site usability for partners. I worked across four separate industry verticals and business models with the marketing and sales teams to achieve goal KPI's. I also lead the creative prioritization and strategy with design, content, front end, and back end development through weekly sprints. I spent 9 months as a product analyst for a proprietary technology product, analyzing product performance, reporting key findings to the team to improve response rates by over 15% and help create strategic roadmaps for the product going forward.

My main responsibilities included gathering and reporting of Google Analytics data on the VMFA website, noting the number of sessions, users, page-views, and organic search criteria in a given week and month. I also pioneered the museum's social media data reporting by creating tables to display week over week Facebook/Twitter/Instagram traffic and interaction. These reports included graphical analysis, revision of exhibition parameters, and exploration of Facebook insights, Hootsuite, and Twitonomy. Furthermore, I wrote copy for social media posts and the VMFA blog (see below) as well as update community calendars. I took on a project in my final weeks aimed to partner with local businesses to promote an upcoming exhibit called, "Forbidden City: Imperial Treasures from the Palace Museum Beijing, China." The other interns and I brainstormed a target audience, but I wrote the copy for the proposal as well as compiled the patterns, inspiration, and sketched sample ideas for our partners.

I served as a counselor for 2 summers here after being a camper the previous 11 years. Throughout these 2 summers, I was a counselor to 7 different cabins, each of which housing 10 girls, ranging from age 7 to 18.It was our responsibility to supervise and instruct both our campers and those not under our "roof" in daily activities such as archery, canoe, etc. I received a High Adventure Certification, allowing me to belay campers up and down climbing walls and on other high adventure activities; we were literally holding lives in our hands. This experience enriched my ability to communicated with people of all ages, campers and fellow counselors and staff, and address the needs before me. It was an around-the-clock position for two straight weeks and required endurance, timeliness, and patience. The variety of challenges honed my problem solving skills from finding a way to help 7 year olds get out the door to conflict resolution among campers to directing hundreds of campers in a track meet.
