I am delighted to start a new position within the Sheffield Students' Union student-staff network, as the Student Sports Volunteering Programme Organiser. After being part of this programme as a volunteer for the past 2 years, I look forward to coordinating this programme professionally and aiding the excellent student sporting community in their volunteering initiatives.

This role involved supporting and encouraging student fundraising initiatives, by overseeing a working student committee aimed at fundraising, whilst supporting over 40 different student societies and sports clubs in their fundraising initiatives. I worked closely with the Fundraising Coordinator to double student participation in the past academic year by developing strong bonds with students based on enthusiasm, and creating accessible, informative documents explaining our support to the wider student community. This increase in student participation led to a rise in our yearly fundraised total for this scheme. This role also highlighted my monetary organisation, budgeting skills and financial capabilities, by managing all cash flows into the Student’s Union, and overseeing payments made to charities throughout the year.

Team Transport is an initiative which works with the incredible independent charity 'City of Sanctuary'. Our mission as part of the City of Sanctuary family is to advocate for free bus travel for asylum seekers in Sheffield. Asylum Seekers are banned from working and are given a baffling £8.86 a week to live on despite bus passes costing up to £5.60 a day. These bus passes allow them to access crucial interviews, meetings, English lessons, volunteering, and so much more. As part of the events team for this project I will be working to organise and facilitate our campaign launch in the upcoming months.

Working with the University of Sheffield Volunteering Office, as a project leader for the Korfball Volunteering initiative, this role involves attending local primary schools to teach young children how to play Korfball - a sport most people have never heard of! We focus on schools who need it the most around Sheffield and the greater South Yorkshire area, and aim to give the children a fun session, a chance to run around, and the chance to learn something new.In addition to this, the Korfball Volunteers also attend local events in aid of the Children's Hospital, such as the 'Do It For You' day and their 'Joints in Action' intiative - these experiences were incredibly magical and heartwarming.
