Responsible for company-wide SIOP processes, Inventory and Network Logistics and Continuous Improvement

Responsible for maturing the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process enterprise-wide and engaging Executives across Supply Chain, Finance, Marketing and the Business Units to align long-term plans and create a forum for margin-based decision making. Responsible for developing and maintaining processes, systems and reporting for demand, supply and store replenishment planning functions across all categories and business channels.

Responsible for Supply Chain operations to support $1.8B CPG and Food Service business, including external supply chain management with key retailers (Walmart, Target, Kroger) and development of Channel-specific Supply Chain capabilities. Aligned Value Chain around improving fundamentals, customer collaboration, new products and promotions and route to market efficiencies to drive service improvements, on-shelf availability and lower costs.Initiated and implemented new processes and capabilities including an Executive S&OP forum for the US CPG business, internal co-packing capabilities for shippers and displays, and cost to serve analysis by customer to capture outbound transportation inefficiencies and order management opportunities.

Responsible for a network of 6 regional distribution facilities, 4 green coffee warehouses and 3 specialty distribution centers with an operating budget of over $100MM, servicing all Retail and B2B customers in the Americas.Developed and executed against distribution network strategy focused on flexibility, business alignment and service, outlining a 3-5 year roadmap for capital investments, real estate strategy, systems and operating principles.Initiated and implemented several major capital investments and operational improvements in distribution center (DC) infrastructure and systems, including opening two new DCs to support growth and gain cost efficiencies, installing a new warehouse management system (WMS) at an existing facility, and developing the tools to support improved labor and space forecasting.Spearheaded significant cross-functional initiatives, including reinventing the execution of the Retail Holiday promotion, eliminating coffee package bricking, improving truck utilization through alternate stacking methods and network design to support Retail, Store Development, Channel and e-Commerce Value Chains.

Lead Kent Roasting Plant Operations team of 100+ partners (employees) in Operations, Scheduling, and Logistics, including 11 direct reports in the roles of Supervisor, Learning Specialist and Engineers, to produce 53MM lbs of coffee annually with an operating budget of $26MM. Established operations pillars of Workplace Organization, Standard Work and Problem Solving to drive performance of the team. This increased packaging equipment OEE (overall equipment effectiveness) by 8.3% in one year (FY10) and 7% the following year (FY11) while simultaneously achieving safety and quality targets.Developed transformation agenda for facility to create significant value for the company and reinvigorate the workplace. This included approval for a capital investment of over $50MM to integrate tea blending and packaging operations, establish soluble coffee manufacturing and a replace 50% of the coffee roasting and packaging equipment, while continuing to meet customer service requirements for all three product groups.

Managed Process Engineering team at Corporate Support Center, focusing on roasting equipment and processes throughout the network of five manufacturing and five co-manufacturing facilities. Responsibilities included management of three employees, development and testing of new and revised coffee recipes and curves in a pilot plant, design and qualification of new and modified roasters, best practice development and change management. Technical lead for design and commissioning of new roaster system, including the mechanical design and the development of proprietary control system. Lead HAZOP analysis of design and operation to improve accessibility, maintainability and safety of the design, which was to be repeated as a program on 13 other roasters.

Managed $82 million capital project to design, construct and commission a new coffee roasting facility, including a green coffee cleaning and storage system, five roasting and packaging cells and a centralized robotic palletization system. Design incorporated cell layout to right-size roasting to packaging capacity and minimize work-in-progress, integrated production offices for real-time performance management, LEED Gold certification, lean design and processing considerations. Phased ramp-up of production cells was completed on-time and the project was closed at 94% of budget.

Managed project to renovate classified cell culture laboratory ($1.2 million). Modified facility architecture to ensure unidirectional personnel flow within the facility and existing HVAC system to ensure cascading pressure strategy met ISO 7 and ISO 8 clean room standards. Managed project to build and control a new chill room ($1.5 million) for bulk pharmaceutical storage. Performed inventory analysis, hazard review, RCM 2/FMEA maintenance analysis and detailed heat transfer modeling calculations for building and monitoring devices.

Provided front-line support for bulk production of Vancomycin API, including process, purified water (WBSO), aqueous waste neutralization and hazardous waste systems. Gained knowledge of safety-critical operations due to the daily use of acetone, acetonitrile and powders, including nitrogen blanketing, electrical classification (Class I, Div 1 and 2), respiratory protection and HVAC controls. Trained in HAZOP and other hazard analysis techniques.
