I am an experienced senior leader, strategic urban and spatial planner, and community engagement specialist. I have significant experience in a variety of government, consultancy and academic settings and have led projects ranging from capital works projects, to strategy, plan and policy development projects, to environmental compliance and certification projects.For the last 17 years I have been leading and managing multi-disciplinary teams. For the last 15 years I have managed the City Development group at the Dunedin City Council, which currently includes 23 policy planners, urban designers, heritage and biodiversity experts and support staff. I have successfully led an ambitious programme of strategic growth planning, several place-based urban revitalization projects, and a full review of the land use plan (district plan), as well as several more focused plan changes. Through all our projects, the team's commitment to community engagement has fortified the collaborative spirit essential for good urban planning and design. My role encompasses people and financial management, programme oversight and management, and strategic technical leadership including as part of DCC’s wider (senior) leadership team. I am a strategic thinker and an innovative problem-solver with strong analytical and relationship management skills.
