During my three-week internship at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Department, I gained invaluable exposure to the complexities of psychiatry. I observed a wide range of sessions with medical professionals and young patients facing unique mental health challenges. This hands-on experience provided insight into the nuances of working with children and adolescents dealing with disorders such as ADHD, developmental delays, trauma, and grief.I attended specialized lectures delivered by experienced professionals covering topics like temper tantrum management, the impact of grief on children, ADHD, and developmental disorders. These sessions enriched my theoretical knowledge and complemented my practical learning.A particularly impactful part of the internship was participating in "rounds sessions," where doctors collaborated on complex cases and met with patients and their families. Witnessing the multidisciplinary approach to case management and treatment planning was eye-opening and solidified my respect for their work.This internship changed me on a personal level, broadening my perspective on mental health and reinforcing the importance of empathy, patience, and understanding. The courage of young patients and their families, alongside the dedication of the doctors, ignited a passion in me to pursue a career in psychiatry. My time at NIMHANS deepened my commitment to supporting vulnerable populations and confirmed my desire to make a meaningful impact in mental health care.

My internship at Y4D Foundation was an enriching experience, where I had the opportunity to engage in both impactful fieldwork and essential office tasks that contributed to the organization's mission of societal upliftment. From day one, I was inspired by the team's dedication and passion for creating positive change through various events and initiatives.Fieldwork was a core component of my internship, including memorable visits to a school in Hinjewadi where we conducted interactive sessions for underprivileged children, educating them on mental health and playing games that brought joy to their faces. I also assisted in a blood test drive for intellectually disabled individuals, deepening my understanding of healthcare challenges.In the office, I gained hands-on experience in a variety of tasks, including drafting press releases about Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages' (HCCB) collaboration with Y4D on community development projects. I contributed to creating social media calendars for the organization and developed a project proposal centered on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), focusing on elder care, menstrual and sexual hygiene for tribal girls, and support for persons with disabilities. Additionally, I crafted testimonials highlighting the impact of Y4D's financial and digital literacy program for women and wrote impact reports on the Miyawaki Forestation initiative and the ecological development of Balwad village. I also scripted a video on mental health awareness, specifically addressing burnout, for Y4D’s YouTube channel.This internship provided me with invaluable skills in project management, content creation, and social impact strategy, while also allowing me to work alongside an incredible team committed to making a difference.

As a Social Media Coordinator intern at Sanjhi Sehat, I was responsible for managing and curating engaging content across the NGO's social media platforms. I developed and implemented strategic campaigns to raise awareness about health-related initiatives, aligning with the organization's mission to promote community well-being. My role involved creating visually appealing, impactful posts, tracking performance metrics, and adjusting strategies to enhance engagement and reach. I collaborated with the team to amplify Sanjhi Sehat’s digital presence, contributing to increased visibility and fostering a stronger online community around health and wellness advocacy.
