I am the President and Executive Director for the Crosstown Memphis Community Development Corporation. We are a 501c3 non-profit that is focused on the economic development of the Crosstown community in Memphis. I am in charge of leading the organization in fundraising efforts, strategic planning, and projects that enhance the economic growth of the community. I oversee all aspects of the organization including fiduciary responsibilities and compliance.

As the Executive assistant to the CEO and CFO in a nonprofit, I wear many hats. However, my primary role is to support the CEO and CFO by making sure they have everything they need to ensure they are able to do their jobs as efficiently as possible. I anticipate issues, prepare for all outcomes, and problem solve as issues arise. I handle a range of projects including coordinating international/domestic travel, preparing meetings for the Board and Senior Leadership, planning and executing Staff meeting for 250 employees, leading the contact tracing for COVID calls, and improving the process of our COVID Drive through. I have also helped in our Eye Clinic where I support the directors, help manage grants, schedule patients, and developed a process of referring patients to volunteer providers in the community.

As the Lead Bilingual PSA, my role was to lead the call center team for the clinic. We received 10,000 calls per month and we were a team of 5 people. We multitasked by scanning documents for the clinics, calling new patients who applied through our website, and managed high call volumes. I led our team to work efficiently and reduced our waiting list for new patients from 10 months to 4 weeks. This required working internally and interdepartmentally. As a team, we were also able to reduce wait times on our phones from an average of 5 minutes per patient to 2 minutes for patients (and 30 seconds for doctors). More than half of our new patients were Spanish-speaking, so it was imperative to have a bilingual staff.

As a reporter for the Olympic News Service, I was tasked with covering the gymnastics competitions. I researched, investigated, interviewed and reported on world-famous gymnasts in a professional setting. I also had the opportunity to interview gymnasts in Spanish as it was an international platform. After interviewing the athletes, I posted the quotes on the ONS website for news reporters to use around the world. Lastly, I was given the assignment of writing up a news story about the Spanish rhythmic gymnastics team. I researched, followed the closely, performed interviews, and wrote a news story for other news outlets to use.

As the Sales Lead at Ann Taylor, I helped clients create new wardrobes, while leading the team to meet sales goals each day. I was responsible for opening and closing the accounts, as well as making bank deposits twice a week. I kept in contact with corporate leaders by sending daily metric reports about the store. I encouraged my co-workers to succeed by making big sales and was responsible for training other co-workers.
