I see myself as being creative, open for new ideas and points of view and eager to continually learn. I have years of experience as a pre-school teacher, and was happy to bring that experience into my new career as a museum professional. I love being able to help bringing history to life in different ways, for example through story telling, guiding and leading work shops, and I truly enjoy working closely to, and interacting with, the visitors - groups and individuals, children and adults alike. Being able to serve as an extention to school education - offer new and diverse learning styles in inspiring environments outside of the classroom - is in my opinion one of our museums most important roles, and I'm proud to be a part of that each time we welcome groups from kindergartens and schools. I'm a strong believer in the concept of "lifelong learning" and the use of museums and their collections in order to reach out to and work together with adults and elderly people as well.I'm very much interested in communication and learning in a broader sense, for instance: how do we communicate what we wish to mediate to the public? What does the visitor bring into the museum - and what do they take with them when they leave? How can we make our exhibits truly accessible to everyone? How can we make our exhibits and collections important for and concern a wider public? How can we make sure the stories of more (and more diverse) people, social groups and cultures are being included and told in our museums? How can we go about making sure more voices are being heard in the exhibitions? etc... Some of these questions my co-writer and I aimed to answer in our masters thesis "The concerned museum: GLO - a language for change?".I greatly enjoy my work as an educator and guide at Fredriksdal museums and gardens!
