In short, when I started my position at JOANN, the store (like many stores in the district and country) was a mess. For months, they had been operating with a very small staff, leaving mountains of inaccessible inventory in the warehouse space. The store floor was dysfunctional, disorganized, and an unpleasant place to work and shop. I started my position with the new Store Manager and together, we did everything we could to turn the ship around. We were able to clear all unopened inventory from the warehouse, reset and reorganize the store displays, hire new talent, and implement a new dynamic inventory flow. I never anticipated assuming so much responsibility at JOANN, but it became a great opportunity to fuse my skills in organizational management, customer service, and strategic planning. It also gave me valuable experience in management and leading a team.• Enhance store-level inventory support by working with Store Manager and District Manager to clear out backlogged inventory and reduce out-of-stock items.• Process weekly freight shipments, ensuring at least 200 boxes of inventory are processed within 3 days.• Stabilize and improve store sales numbers by maintaining inventory and implementing flexible seasonal store layout.• Grew team by 35% to fully staffed status by recruiting quality candidates and prioritizing new employee mentorship.

As an archaeology student at the Achill Island Archaeological Field School, I aided in excavating a nineteenth-century village located at the site of Tawnaghmore, in Dooagh, Achill Island, Co. Mayo, Ireland. As part of the program curriculum, I executed Phase I, II, and III processes to recover materials both historical and modern including a fishing net weight, horseshoes, glass fragments, and iron and blacksmithing materials. I also practice skills in identifying and recording artifacts, features, contexts, and structures while maintaining accurate field logs and photographing progress.I used QGIS to render a map of the site, making sure to include all relevant geological and man-made features. This allowed me to practice using both vector and raster datasets. This map will serve as a resource for proceeding excavations, so researchers will have documentation of all work conducted at the site.

In this role, I was responsible for maintaining the current collection and work spaces according to archaeological collection best practices, including storage and pest management duties.It was also my job to review internal records, and literature on the Wisconsin Historical Preservation Database and update the collections database. I also had projects in which I organize, processed, and cataloged new accessions, loans, and permanent collection materials, including materials liable under NAGPRA. Throughout this NAGPRA work especially, I made it a priority to practice ethical and accurate analysis of human remains, when identifying basic biological profiles, age-at-death, and paleopathological conditions.

For 2 years, I served as the Curatorial Assistant for the museum's Chief Curator. My main project is focused on researching the provenance of items in the Chazen's permanent collection. I also completed research projects based on the Chief Curator's requests, usually focused on works in the permanent collection, works offered as gifts or bequests, or new accessions. I also had a chance to curate a display in the museum, a case of contemporary ceramic works that is currently still on-view in the museum. – Carefully processed animal specimens to make study skins, study skeletons, and fluid-preserved specimens, while maintaining a sterile work environment in a BSL-2 laboratory. – Dissected and collected tissue samples from over forty specimens of varying species.– Cataloged detailed and accurate animal data including measurements, collection information, and preparation methods. – Assisted in the maintenance of a live dermestid beetle colony.

As a student in Art History 506, led by Prof. Anna Campbell, I was able to co-curate the exhibition "(De)Constructing the Everyday: Art History 506, Curatorial Studies Exhibition Practice" which is on view at the Chazen Museum of Art September 2-December 23, 2022. My primary role was to curate a virtual online exhibit to accompany the in-person experience. A link to that virtual exhibition, titled "Allusions of Motion," can be found below!

As an intern in the Department of Anthropology collections, I was under the supervision of the department's Senior Academic Curator. For my project, I organized, labeled, and repackaged the personal research collection of the late Prof. James Stoltman. This collection included approximately 2,000 ceramic fragments and corresponding microscope thin-section slides. I had to label, rebag, and tag each individual artifact before reboxing the entire collection with a physical inventory sheet. This also required taking extensive notes on my process, so as to provide documentation for future researchers.
