During my year at Dyson I:Owned and developed a plastic attachment assembly to go onto an existing airflow haircare product, to be used by a niche user group to improve their finished style-Design requirements: I took the attachment concept and developed it through user trials, user research and networking to build a set of requirements that I wanted it to achieve-Concept generation: From shortcomings in user trials, I generated new concepts so the attachment was utilised through full user journey that I had generated from my research-Prototyping: Improved through ribbing, blends, wall thickness and print orientation, the robustness of the prototypes due to a more complex loading scenario, for external trials-Manufacturing: Used injection moulding knowledge so part was removable. Created a DFM solution so the line where two parts joined didn’t interfere with the user interactionTasked to find supplier’s least thermally resistant material to be a part of heated technology- Working with suppliers to find if there were materials that met the basic requirements- Developed technical drawings to provide to suppliers, for surface finishing and dimensions- Developed a longer list of requirements by using my initiative to work on full product rig builds to better understand the component, particularly the usability- Developed and built a test method in-house used to calculate thermal resistance. This involved integrating heaters and thermal insulation to assume negligible losses

Throughout my summer internship 2022 I was involved in more early stage design work. I worked closely with my mentor and another summer intern in a team of three to deliver the first stages of the brief.My specific task was to research, generate or improve upon existing test methods in order to test early prototypes that the team generated.Other activities I also was involved in was•Group brainstorming sessions for new concepts•Building concepts on NX in order to have physical prototypes for users to trial•Running and planning of user trials. One was to determine user requirements and another was to determine user satisfaction of developed prototypes

In this role I needed to quickly design visual solutions to promote charity events•Teamwork was required to split graphic requests amongst the design team•I needed good time management to balance engineering work, art school work and my graphic requests•The graphics I created were used to promote our fundraising events & the main fashion show. In 2021 year we are aiming to raise £27,595 for the charity ‘Glasgow’s Golden Generation’ and in 2022 we raised £40,649 for refuweegee.

Working in Clark’s, the shoe shop, was a challenging, fast pace and enthralling place to work. •Individual targets were given everyday. Targets outlined how much money you needed to make in a day and how many online customer reviews you personally should receive. •To achieve this target, I ensured I had an extremely high level of organisation in the shop, especially during busy sale periods. To do this I made sure shelves were always stocked and tidy. On top of this, as I would be serving 5-6 customers at one time who would be trying on multiple pairs of shoes, I always checked that shoe boxes were stacked neatly or put away. •I made my customer feedback target by being chatty and welcoming to each customer I served, especially when putting through the sale at the till. By building this rapour with my customer, ensured Clark’s had returning customers
