I am a senior at the University of Pittsburgh Honors College pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Natural Sciences, as well as double minors in Spanish and Social Work and certificates in Global Health and Conceptual Foundations of Medicine. Currently, I work as a research assistant in the Long Life Family Study in the Pitt Department of Epidemiology. My other activities at Pitt include serving as an undergraduate teaching assistant in genetics, vice president of the Genetic Counseling Club, and member of Phi Chi pre-health society and Alpha Epsilon Phi sorority. I plan to become a genetic counselor in the future, and believe that my extensive coursework in biology and social sciences has prepared me to enter this multidisciplinary field. I also hope to utilize my Spanish skills as there are a limited number of bilingual genetic counselors in the United States. I am currently looking for shadowing and advocacy experiences to improve my interpersonal skills and knowledge of the genetic testing process.
