As a financial accountant and Administration intern, I assisted the accountant and Administration officer from February 2021. My goal was aquiring hands-on skills and experience in this field of Accounting and Finance.Roles performed;✓Receive payment cheques and cash and issue receipts.✓Assist in drawing payment cheques for various debtors.✓Enter financial transactions into the company’s accounting software application.✓Maintain digital and physical financial records.✓Assist with preparation of monthly and annual financial reports and analysis.✓Ensure that proper status of accounts is maintained, and all transactions take place as per the correct procedure and ensure that day to day petty cash transactions are carried out in accordance with company policy.✓Assist in preparation of payrolls.✓Prepare and pay statutory deductions like Pay as You Earn (PAYE), Withholding Tax (WHT), Value Added Tax (VAT), Consultancy/agency fees and Value Added Tax✓Ensure that subsidiary account holder invoices presented for payment have been authorized by the user of the account or his/her designate. ✓Ensure that cheques for deposit are properly drawn and signed before banking. ✓Confirm that the prevailing exchange rates for the day have been updated before entry of disbursements. ✓Payment of utility bills: KPLC, TELKOM, NAIROBI WATER, AIRTEL AND SAFARICOM✓Prepare the schedule for payments of bills wages and salaries.✓Answer telephone calls, emails and liaising with relevant departments as necessary to ensure enquires are dealt with in a professional and timely manner. ✓Complete month end reconciliations of accounts as assigned by the supervisor in a timely, accurate and understandable manner. ✓Assist with Inventory Management. ✓Procure permits and passes at Nyayo house immigration office and on eFNS online portal.
