Victim Support Adult Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse Champion (ASAC) has been appoited to help improve resources for adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse within two ‘hot-spot’ areas Essex and Manchester, to produce and develop support models using the input of adult survivors.The ASAC will act as a single point of contact for enquiries around adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse and cascade learning throughout Victim Support. The ASAC will also facilitate focus groups and individual work with survivors to capture their opinions and perspectives and incorporate this into the findings of the project.Victim Support’s partners in this project are the National Association for People Abused in Childhood (NAPAC) and the University of Bedfordshire. NAPAC will run a concurrent project providing therapeutic support to survivors and will assist with peer learning around support materials. The University of Bedfordshire will provide academic support and conduct the qualitative data analysis of the material gathered in the project.We propose to analyse existing support models with the academic partner, and then use this to develop a comprehensive, flexible support and outcomes model specifically designed for adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse.This model will be informed by survivors; built on proven data and existing best practice from Victim Support and other support groups. It will be able to adapt to fit individual and local need; will encompass end-to-end support (from identification to post inquiry/post trial); and will ensure a consistent approach that empowers survivors to move forward.

This establishment is now closed however it was part of the Caring Homes portfolio.
