I instruct eighth and ninth grade English as well as Novel Studies 8. My curriculum includes literary study that is novel and non-fiction based with a heavy emphasis on composition. Technology is incorporated at every possible point, and the students also receive instruction in research using the MLA style handbook. I am currently involved in the school's curriculum committee, the high school English PLC, and I serve as the chair of the middle school English PLC.

In my tenure in Randolph County schools, I have worked as a Speech/Language Therapy Paraprofessional, a composition instructor, a reading teacher, and a study skills instructor.

I worked on an inter-disciplinary team of five amazing core-subject teachers. As I taught grammar and composition to eighth graders, I also practiced school-within-a-school concept and did cooperative learning activities. My service also included chair of the English Department, chair of the Curriculum Committee, chair of the Responsible Students Committee, and work on the Exam Committee.
