Public Affairs Specialist
CurrentCenter: Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center - Office of Communications and Public AffairsPlan and implement comprehensive public affairs campaigns to enhance the understanding of NASA programs. Specific duties include: - Serving as the acting strategic communications lead for the Commercial Low Earth Orbit Development Program (Sept. 2024-Present), and the public affairs officer for CLDP and back-up public affairs support for the Commercial Crew Program (Feb. 2024-Present);- Previously served as the public affairs lead for the Human Health and Performance Directorate and the Human Research Program (Sept. 2022-Feb. 2024), and the Engineering Directorate (Oct. 2023-Jan. 2024);- Previously executed in-flight media and education events between astronauts aboard the International Space Station and clients on the ground (Dec. 2022-March 2024);- Providing live mission commentary on NASA Television and associated broadcast streams for various dynamic mission operations, including launches, landings, dockings/undockings, and spacewalks (Feb. 2023-Present);- Developing, reviewing and editing communication products, including social media, news releases, web features, talking points and fact sheets;- Assisting in integrating strategic social media communication products into campaigns to increase visibility and traffic across program priorities;- Conducting a wide variety of external events for the media and general public for mission-related activities.
