At Hold Fast Coffee, I had the privilege of working alongside the best baristas, managers, and coffee roasters in the Colorado Springs area. My position included providing the highest quality customer service, hospitality, food, and beverages. In addition, I oversaw employees on shift and was the point-person for any customer inquiries.

Event Hosting at Rocky Mountain Calvary was an as-needed position. In this position I had the responsibility of overseeing weddings, funerals, and other venue-hosted events. I supervised event attendees to ensure all needs were met as well as prevent attendees from straying from the designated event area. For larger events, additional hosts were required to manage all tasks, which I managed and delegated throughout the time of the event. I managed coordination with the event caterers as well as set-up and tear-down for catering and event decor.

This job required many hats to be worn. Proper documentation of purchases, event organization, sending coherent and professional emails, and event-related shopping are the main tasks fulfilled in this position. I served as an assistant to multiple pastors, performing these tasks for each of them.

As a member of the Cafe team at Rocky Mountain Calvary, I was responsible for food preparation of individual meals as well as bulk meals for 50+ people. The environment was fast-paced and I learned to effectively communicate with others on the team to complete various tasks. In addition, I assured top quality food was served and avidly upheld health and safety requlations.

This position required creativity, customer service skills, and responsibility. While the food and beverage industry is a relatively easy area to work in, skills can still be honed and perfected. As the manager of this coffee shop, I have gained experience in supervising employees, efficient organization, customer service, and above all, the incorporation of creativity in the workplace.

Campus Connections is a program UCCS offers that allows university students to get credit alongside experience while working with at-risk middle schoolers. I had the opportunity to work with these at-risk middle schoolers as a one-on-one mentor after receiving professional crisis training and became a mandated reporter.
