Conducted a novel HCI research study with 15 participants to determine the importance of the Proteus Effect (i.e., subconscious avatar imitation) during AR (Augmented Reality) beautifying face filter usage on social platforms. Publication in progress.Evaluated participant self-consciousness and self-confidence levels pre-, during, and post- face filter exposure using a mixed methods study. Results indicate that these metrics increase measurably post- exposure among participants.Collected and analyzed quantitative and qualitative data through top-down and bottom-up analyses of 1.5-hour interview transcripts, one-week longitudinal diary studies, and 30 (per participant) pre-and post- interview survey questions using the analysis programs Miro, Excel, and SPSS.Designed and executed a 5-month study to determine whether online avatar facial priming affects user product purchase intention. Recruited and gathered data from 268 participants via online surveys using the platform Qualtrics. Study results show that facial priming can increase purchase intention by up to 50%. Results also indicate that purchase intention is independent of priming type, user demographic information, and primer attitude.Processed quantitative data in SPSS using several T-tests, Two-way ANCOVAs, and Factorial ANOVAs.
