I also led our SNAP Access Group, which is a coalition of partners across Tennessee who are dedicated to strengthening the nutrition safety net in our state.In this role I managed 15-20 cases at a time, assisting Tennesseans to apply for SNAP and work through administrative barriers, securing over $370,000 worth of benefits for clients; worked closely with staff attorneys to prepare to represent clients in SNAP administrative appeals; tracked systemic issues in TN’s implementation of federal nutrition programs to communicate and strategize with TJC’s nutrition advocacy team, staff attorneys, and Tennessee policy makers; co-wrote TJC’s first official protocol for SNAP casework and a trouble-shooting guide for future Client Advocates; and presented nutritional access and hunger data during monthly partner webinars and participated in calls with the TN Department of Human Services.
