Conducting qualitative research and policy analysis as a co-lead of the deeper learning team at the Learning Policy Institute. Serving as a project lead and content expert for nationally-focused research and policy work on community schools and whole child education efforts. Facilitating professional learning opportunities, providing strategic district support, and researching the implementation of performance assessment systems for 9th through 12th grade students in CA schools through the CA Performance Assessment Collaborative (CPAC).

Providing analytic support to early learning policy initiatives in CA and throughout the nation. Documenting performance assessment initiatives for 9th through 12th grade students in CA schools through the CA Performance Assessment Collaborative (CPAC). Working on a community schools research synthesis in collaboration with the National Education Policy Center.

California EPFP is jointly administered by the Education Insights Center and the Center for California Studies at Sacramento State University to support the development of a new generation of skilled, informed education leaders who can develop and implement effective policy. The program brings together approximately 20 professionals over the course of an academic year to explore critical topics related to the national program’s three pillars: policy, leadership, and networking. California EPFP is tailored to address particular challenges in the state through its focus on 1) connecting K-12 and postsecondary education and 2) connecting state policy development and local implementation needs.

Worked with West Contra Costa Unified School District to assist with implementation of a district-wide Full Service Community Schools initiative. Surveyed 57 school sites to map assets and needs for each campus. Collaborated with the Richmond Community Foundation to map community resources in Contra Costa County. Produced policy brief including analysis of alignment of assets and needs across the district, and recommendations for next steps. Conducted a needs assessment at three high schools and identified indicators of successful implementation of the Full Service Community Schools initiative at school sites.

Worked with the Practice and Equity Initiatives team to expand the Opportunity Audit toolkit for K-12 use, and to align the toolkit with the Common Core State Standards. This toolkit will assist school districts in evaluating the quality and rigor of instruction offered at different school sites, thus increasing access to a college and career ready curriculum for all students, with a particular emphasis on students from traditionally underserved populations. Built a prototype for an online platform to collect and evaluate assignments, using a relational database.

Developed and administered end-of-season surveys to 100+ Coaching Corps coaches, 25 partners and 150+ youth using Excel and Survey Monkey. Analyzed survey results using Excel, and authored executive summaries of the survey findings. Formulated program recommendations that were used throughout the organization. Assisted in customizing the Salesforce.com database for Coaching Corps, and co-authored a 100+ page user manual for internal use of Salesforce.

Provided general administrative assistance to the executive team at Age Wave. Conducted online market research of financial advisor training programs and compiled a report that was presented to the CEO and Executive Vice President. Supported sales outreach efforts, including database maintenance, and drafting professional correspondence.

Taught second grade at an Aspire charter school. Developed customized curriculum for reading, writing and math instruction.

Developed differentiated curricula as a second and third grade teacher in Oakland Unified School District. Held leadership positions on various school councils, including the School Site Council and the Faculty Council at Reach Academy.

Managed and ran an afterschool enrichment program for 20 2nd - 5th graders are Allendale Elementary School in Oakland Unified School District.
