I joined Mathematica, Inc. as a Research Associate in Cambridge, Massachusetts in July 2022, in the Human Services – Children, Youth, & Families Division. My current work is largely focused on providing research services, project management, and technical assistance to government agencies and their grantees, with focuses on family support (including teen pregnancy prevention, child welfare, maternal and infant home visiting programs), nutrition, and education. I have experience working on contracts for many federal clients, including the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Population Affairs (OPA), Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE), Office of Planning, Research, and Evaluation (OPRE), Children’s Bureau (CB) and Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) as well as the U.S. Department of Education’s Institute for Education Sciences (IES) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food and Nutrition Service (FNS). Tasks vary each day, but my general responsibilities include site recruitment for impact evaluations (quasi-experimental and randomized controlled trials), coordinating and conducting systematic evidence reviews, writing reports and briefs, providing equity-centered technical asssistance to government offices and grantees, coding and analyzing qualitative/quantitative data, project and deliverable management, and supporting day-to-day survey administration tasks.

Under the faculty mentorship of Dr. Karen P. Kochel, I applied for and was awarded the John Neasmith Dickinson Memorial Research Award in Psychology of $1,500 to conduct an honors thesis project during my senior year. In the University of Richmond Department of Psychology, I was invited into the competitive honors cohort to complete a year-long thesis in psychology with a faculty mentor for the 2021-2022 academic year.As a researcher on my project, “Demographic Disparities in College Students’ Psychological Adjustment During COVID-19” I collaborated with Dr. Kochel’s ongoing project analyzing data (N = 424) from two residential liberal arts college campuses. I was primarily responsible for:- Conducting a thorough literature review.- Writing and submitting work to a national psychology conference.- Developing a variable codebook and selecting variables of interest to analyze.- Cleaning and analyzing data from 424 participants across different constructs and demographic variables, using Excel and SPSS.- At the end of spring 2022, this project culminated in a written, APA-style thesis to put on file with the UR library and an oral presentation to the entire Psychology department.

The Peer Sexual Misconduct Advisors (PSMAs) are UR students who serve as confidential peer advisors trained in Title IX policy, procedure, and emotional support resources. PSMAs are selected through an application process and complete extensive training. All contact is confidential because the PSMAs are not employees of the University.As a Peer Sexual Misconduct Advisor (PSMA), my duties included:- Receiving annual training from the UR Title IX Coordinators, UR Police Department, UR Counseling and Psychological Services, UR Center for Equity and Inclusion, UR Student Health Center, St. Mary’s Hospital, Safe Harbor Safe House, UR Human Resources, and the Richmond City Commonwealth's Attorney.- Directing survivors and respondents to necessary resources.- Providing information on reporting options, processes, and procedures.- Connecting students to funding options.- Helping students report sexual misconduct violations to officials.- Communicating with Title IX Coordinators.- Accompanying students to medical providers- Serving 24/7 “on-call” shifts to be an immediate resource via phone or email.As one of the co-leaders of the PSMAs, my responsibilities included: - Planning the semesterly "on-call" schedule.- Coordinating annual PSMA training.- Running the PSMA Instagram account and planning appropriate marketing initiatives.- Planning fundraisers for St. Mary's Hospital.- Reviewing applications, conducting interviews, and selecting new incoming PSMAs.- Implementing public violence prevention initiatives on-campus.- Attending violence prevention events to serve as a confidential resource.

At Pure Barre Richmond - Near West End, I worked part-time as a Sales Associate to drive sales and service excellence to expand the Pure Barre community. I was responsible for: - Welcoming members to the studio.- Implementing COVID-19 protocol to sanitize the studio.- Opening and closing the studio.- Selling memberships and retail.- Working at special events, including Open Houses, Annual Sales, and Workshops.- Providing a holistic customer service experience to members.- Attending necessary sales training and studio events.- Serving on the Pure Barre Richmond Change Committee, where I attend quarterly meetings on helping the studio to foster an inclusive, safe, and social justice-oriented community for all clients.

In the Jepson School of Leadership Studies, I worked as a student researcher under a faculty mentor, Dr. Crystal Hoyt, and alongside other student researchers. Since spring 2020, I have been a part of several major research projects, both correlational and experimental in nature.As a student researcher, I was responsible for:- Conducting thorough literature reviews.- Writing and submitting study applications to the Institutional Review Board (IRB) for approval.- Writing and submitting research grant applications (awarded $570.00 for the 2021-2022 school year & awarded $800.00 for the 2020-2021 school year).- Writing and submitting travel grant applications (awarded $1,100.00 to attend the SPSP annual 2022 convention & awarded $100.00 to attend the SPSP virtual annual 2021 convention).- Designing psychological measures and surveys.- Continuously collaborating with experts in the field to review our work.- Uploading surveys into Qualtrics software and launching studies in Prolific/CloudResearch participant recruitment software.- Collecting data from ~400+ participants per study.- Cleaning and analyzing quantitative/qualitative data in Excel/SPSS.- Submitting work to international conferences and peer-reviewed publications.

As a Policy Intern at Council for Court Excellence (CCE), I was awarded the Robert L. Burrus Jr. Fellowship from the Jepson School of Leadership Studies to complete an unpaid internship for summer 2021, 40 hours/week for 10 weeks.As a full-time, remote intern for CCE, I supported the organization in helping to improve justice for the Washington, DC metropolitan area. I was involved in policy research and analysis, committee project support, strategic planning, and community relations.As a Policy Intern, my responsibilities included:- Writing and submitting budget testimonies to be reviewed by the DC Council and Mayor.- Collaborating on DC policy analysis and advocacy as assigned, including policy research, policy memos, data access requests, community letters, op-ed pieces, and data analysis.- Designing and publishing infographics and reports to CCE social media accounts, pulling from relevant research conducted by CCE.- Helping to promote and plan CCE’s public forums and events on justice education topics in DC.- Drafting monthly CCE newsletter to stakeholders, advocates, board members, and committees.- Attending and recording notes for relevant meetings within CCE and the District (staff meetings, Board meetings, DC Council Budget Oversight hearings, coalition meetings, and others).- Attending, recording, and participating in committee and sub-committee meetings for CCE with Board Members and Staff (Youth Justice, Civil Justice, Criminal Justice, and Justice Education).- Attending webinars and workshops to advance my understanding of the DC Justice System and staying up-to-date with relevant justice legislation, court rulings, and advocacy.- Conducting any additional administrative tasks as assigned.

Starting in January 2021, I served as a part-time intern for REAL LIFE and its four core programs: REAL LIFE Community Center, Motherhood Program, Recovery Transitional Housing, and Jail Programming. Spending ~5 hours/week as a volunteer intern, my duties included:- Helping clients apply for Medicaid and SNAP through the Virginia CommonHelp application.- Conducting intake phone and video calls with clients.- Interviewing clients for REAL LIFE blog posts on success stories.- Attending and participating in REAL LIFE classes.- Helping to write the organization's annual report for 2020.- Writing REAL LIFE blog posts on a variety of topics related to REAL LIFE.- Designing social media graphics for Facebook and Instagram (using Canva and Adobe Spark).- Designing worksheets for case managers to use with clients.- Attending meetings with Lifers in all of the houses.- Any other miscellaneous administrative tasks for the organization, as needed.

Part-time, I volunteered as a campaign fellow for the Michigan Democratic Party’s One Campaign, a coordinated field campaign for Joe Biden’s 2020 Presidential race and Gary Peters's 2020 Michigan Senate race.My commitment consisted of:- ~5 hours per week on remote phone banking for the campaign.- Helped recruit volunteers.- Shared voting resources on social media.- Helped new voters register to vote leading up to the election on November 3, 2020.

As an intern with Mental Health America of Virginia (MHAV), I was awarded a competitive fellowship from the University of Richmond Spider Internship Funding to conduct an internship for summer 2020. I worked remotely ~40 hours/week for 10 weeks.My responsibilities included:- Researching funding opportunities in Virginia for the agency and applying for nonprofit grants for the state mental health Warm Line.- Writing to a blog (twice weekly) about the mental health implications of COVID-19 on high school and college-aged students, providing resources and personal insight for mental health services. - Designing social media graphics for the agency Facebook and Instagram (using Canva).- Sending MailChimp newsletters to the Virginia Peer Recovery Specialist Network.- Posting to the MHAV Facebook and Instagram pages (resources, quotes, graphics).- Attending weekly MHAV staff meetings.- Attending various webinars relevant to MHAV.

As the Public Benefits and Intake Intern through CONNECT at The Neighborhood Developers, for ~15 hours/week, I completed this internship to receive academic credit towards my Women, Gender, Sexuality Studies minor. My responsibilities included:- Helping families and individuals apply for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP/MassHealth), and the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). - Working one-on-one with clients by providing application assistance and case management support throughout the entire process. - Attending staff meetings and training days.- Marketing, outreach, and administrative tasks for the CONNECT program (e.g., designing flyers, disseminating flyers around the city of Chelsea, coordinating with the community liaison on cases).

At Melt Ice Cream, I worked as a customer service assistant which consisted of:- Opening and closing the shop.- Training new employees.- Preparing ingredients for homemade ice cream.- Serving customers.
