As an enthusiastic Public Health student set to graduate from Appalachian State University in Fall 2024, I am passionate about driving community health initiatives and contributing to impactful policy advocacy and program development. With hands-on experience in community engagement and health education, I have gained skills in supporting public health programs, crafting effective communications, and participating in research-driven projects. My journey began with a strong academic foundation in public health, complemented by practical experience in various roles. As a Community Health Intern at Appalachian Health Care, I’ve implemented the CATCH My Breath anti-vaping curriculum, supported Healthy Communities programming, and contributed to suicide prevention efforts. My role also involves crafting social media campaigns, researching opportunities for enhancing family and social support initiatives, and representing the organization at community events. This experience has deepened my understanding of public health challenges and enhanced my ability to build relationships with key stakeholders. In addition to my public health experience, I’ve developed strong organizational and communication skills through diverse roles in customer service. Whether managing high-volume orders at Taste Grill or processing transactions at Sugar Mountain Ski Resort, I’ve demonstrated my ability to handle tasks efficiently in fast-paced environments while delivering exceptional service.Academically, I've applied my skills to projects such as evaluating the SNAP program’s effectiveness, developing a program model for opioid recovery, and designing a sexual violence awareness campaign. These projects allowed me to showcase my expertise in research, project management, and graphic design, all while achieving top grades.Beyond my academic and professional experiences, I am an active member of the Public Health Club, where I’ve organized and executed public health initiatives and developed strategies to enhance community engagement. My volunteer work with organizations like the Hunger & Health Coalition and Watauga Medical Center has further solidified my commitment to making a positive impact on public health.I am eager to leverage my academic background and practical skills to contribute to impactful policy advocacy and program development. With a strong ability to build relationships, manage tasks, and support public health goals, I am ready to take on new challenges and make a meaningful difference in the field of public health.
