All students must reach their fullest potential. I believe in the importance of students discovering what interests them. It is my responsibility to scaffold and inform them of a curriculum that can enhance their exploration of the world and their life. I find it important and beneficial to students' academic success and well-being that social-emotional learning is included or intertwined in instruction. This is to support students' development of self-awareness and positive social relationships with peers and adults. My students' ethnicity and culture must be respected and mirrored in the classroom environment and curriculum. I was a kindergarten teacher for two years. I taught twenty-one students how to function in a school environment while also teaching them social-emotional and behavioral health, as well as the core subjects. I brainstormed with coworkers on the best practices for instruction. I received my master's in Elementary Education at the University of Alabama. I obtained my bachelor's in Elementary Education at the University of Alabama as Cumma Summa Laude. I obtained a minor in liberal arts through the Blount Scholars Program. This promoted open-minded thinking through various readings, argumentative essays, and peer debates. Readings include such works as Socrates, Plato, John Locke, and Toni Morrison. This experience strengthened my writing skills.
