Manage the learning support department for both the Preparatory school and the Senior school, with responsibilities for pupils with SEN and G&T pupils. This involves assessing pupils, planning appropriate support and liaising with other teachers.

Managed a special unit within the mainstream school for young people with Speech, Language and Communication Needs and / or Autistic Spectrum Conditions.While at Southfields I established the SLCN unit within the mainstream school. This involved designing and teaching interventions to groups of students with SEN, monitoring progress and liaising with families and other agencies. I also ran training sessions on SEN to mainstream teachers and trainee teachers. While working at Southfields I presented at national conferences. In 2011 I presented at City University’s conference on SLCN in older children and I also presented at the 2011 Speechmark national conference in London on Inclusion in mainstream schools.

Worked on a number of research projects for both corporate and public clients, with a specific focus on social research.

As Assistant Director of Learning for Year 9, I was in charge of running the student council, planning and creating Social Personal and Citizenship Education lessons and resources for the year group. I organised and ran progress review days where parents / carers and teachers discussed pupil’s progress and achievement. This role required constant consultations with teachers to identify their needs and requirements to gain insight to create actionable objectives for development. I have developed excellent communication skills through managing such school projects as they involve teachers, students and parents. Working in a strategic role improved my time management skills as I balanced the role as a classroom teacher and middle manager.
