I am a Professional Science Master's student in the Molecular and Cell Biology Department at the University of Connecticut - Storrs. I study gene expression and protein purification. I graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a Bachelor's degree in microbiology and Greatest Distinction from the Commonwealth Honors College. As a chemical analyst, I test for protein concentration and purity. I have academic lab experience including streak and spread plating, working with bacteriophages, watching for antibiotic resistance, identifying an unknown as well as completing crystallizations, gas chromatographies, esterifications, and acid-base extractions. I was part of a genomic sequencing project using SEA-PHAGES that sequenced and named the genes of Mycobacterium smegmatis, which was later published by the University. I am interested in infectious disease defense, immunology, rare diseases, oncology, and genome analysis. As a community member, I volunteer in events that support the local food pantry.
