Winner of the Scottish Health Awards Innovation Category 2022, I am strategic programme manager experienced in person centred service design, research, service improvement, project delivery, stakeholder and service user engagement. A BBC trained Macmillan Cancer Support professional with a track record in building alliances across sectors. I worked for design and IT agencies before joining the NHS 17 years ago. A PRINCE 2 practitioner, I won the national NHS Poster Award in 2017 for Person Centred Service Design and am passionate about innovation, equity and quality within the NHS.Currently project managing the Scottish Mesothelioma Network (SMN) a multidisciplinary team of clinicians from across Scotland dedicated to transforming diagnosis and treatment for mesothelioma patients. The team collaborate to share best practice and provide high quality clinical care, information and support to all patients, wherever they live in Scotland. The SMN also ensures all patients have equitable access to potentially life-changing clinical trials and new treatment developments. This' Once for Scotland' model of care is a flag ship policy for low volume cancers in the Scottish Government Cancer Recovery Plan published in December 2020.Previously worked with Breast Surgery Teams across the NHS South Sector in Glasgow - aimed at introducing holistic care into follow up for breast cancer patients when they transition from acute treatment back to everyday life. The pilot started at Stobhill and I obtained follow on funding to embed this new person centred model of follow up into practise, providing over 2000 individually tailored care plans annually, building links with support organisations in the community and freeing up over 2,300 consultants appointments annually.The positive outcomes from the Stobhill project was used to influence change across the Glasgow region and led to the West of Scotland Guidelines for breast cancer follow up being rewritten based on the outcomes of the pilot.At NHS health Scotland I worked on health improvement campaigns aimed at reducing health inequalities and improving health. I produced films, publications and social media campaigns on subjects ranging from HIV to Bowel Cancer to Tobacco, latterly working on the national Childhood Flu Immunisation Campaign.
