The SLC is the statutory body responsible for promoting and proposing law reform in Scotland. I am part of the contract law team with Professor Hector MacQueen, currently working on reform of contract law in light of the Draft Common Frame of Reference. My responsibilities include: - Researching and reporting on specific legal issues - Noting and managing consultation responses and general feedback from stakeholders - Attending committee meetings - Helping to draft Discussion Papers - Liaising with GLSS and Parliamentary Counsel

I volunteered at the Scottish Child Law Centre, which I found to be an incredibly rewarding experience. Whilst I handled many administrative duties, I was also tasked with drafting a response to an informal consultation on legislation for the Scottish Government. This was challenging, as it necessitated thorough research and thinking outside the box in terms of potential loopholes and risks. This has allowed me to develop my skills in being able to anticipate future problems and reduce the risk of these problems materialising. I believe that this is a transferable skill which will serve me well in my career.

The University of Strathclyde Law Clinic is a voluntary organisation which provides legal advice and representation to those that do not otherwise have access to justice. As a student adviser, I managed a varied caseload from initial interview through to representation at court hearings and have experience in housing disputes, small claims, disability discrimination and employment disputes, often in particularly challenging circumstances.
