Mention middle school students and often the audience will shudder. It is just the opposite for me. I was a middle school science teacher for 24 years. I find this age group exciting, endearing and invigorating. While teaching, I obtained my National Board Certification in Adolescent Science. I was recruited to write curriculum and pacing guides for my district, as well as benchmark assessments. After winning Teacher of the Year at my school, I was selected as an Honor Teacher by my district. In 2017, I made the move to Instructional Technology Specialist in my school district. I was able to present complex technology concepts in a manner both engaging and enlightening. Currently, I work as a teacher librarian where my position involves helping teachers and students learn how to incorporate research, information literacy and technology into lessons seamlessly and effectively.
