I am researcher (PhD) in isotope geochemistry, focusing on trace metal isotopes and instrument development. My driving force is to explore different methods/technology (fs-MC-ICP-MS, fs-ToF-MS, NEXAFS) to identify life in rocks. Novel and boundary-crossing technology is central to my research and my hope is to continue this exciting way of working closely to engineers and developers. An interdisciplinary work environment is of great importance since my research focus requires expertise in both microbiology, technology and geochemistry. I also have my own company where I do consultant assignments in the field of microbiology and geochemistry (often analyzing microbial growth in drill holes, construction sites or similar). PostdocStockholm University Aug 2012 - Jan 2014I analyzed the cation exchange capacity in fracture filling material in drill cores from Äspö. The work was done to investigate the anomalies of Ca ions in the collected water samples from the area and was a part of a project for Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management Company, SKB.Another parallel project was to investigate the capacities of olivine and chromitite to act as reductants of CO2 to CH4 at low temperatures (50C).This work was done in cooperation with Istituto Nazionale di… Show more I analyzed the cation exchange capacity in fracture filling material in drill cores from Äspö. Phd StudentStockholm University Aug 2006 - Jan 2012I analyzed the reduction capacity and alteration rate of olivine at aqueous low temperature alteration conditions. The aim was to answer questions about the importance of serpentinization for the survival, maintenance and growth of microbes in the deep subsurface and possibly also on other planets. -

Most experimental olivine weathering studies are carried out in high temperatures and high pressures and this study aims to increase the knowledge regarding olivine weathering in more moderate conditions. Many environments on Earth with ongoing serpentinization are low temperature regions in which certain microorganisms may proliferate close to the energy source. Chemical energy is partly provided by the weathering of minerals and since olivine is one of the fastest weathered silicates, it is hypothesized to be a suitable energy provider to certain microorganisms. Coupled to olivine hydration is also the suggested mechanism for synthesis of important organic molecules, which may have implications for the onset of life on Earth and on other planets, such as Mars.
