While in Molecular Biology, cloned various proteins for expression in E.coli and Baculovirus (BV) systems using signal sequences, affinity tags, and truncations to produce soluble active proteins. Used ABI 3130 sequencer for in-house sequencing of clones. Experienced cell culturist; insect and mammalian. Responsible for cell maintenance/passage and infection, plaque assays, and MOI studies, and cryopreservation. While in Protein Core, performed expression studies, ran SDS-PAGE, and Western Blots. AKTA FPLC protein purification's include gel filtration, and ion exchange chromatography, and affinity chromatography. Characterizing pure proteins using known techniques as well as developing assays for both in-house use and commercial sale (Malachite Green Assay, sEH Inhibitor Screen). Assay characterization included determining IC50, Km, and determining specific activity for proteins. Independent interpretation of assay data and troubleshooting was a routine part of my job.

Molecular Biology group- Independently performed cloning experiments including PCR, gene recombination, gel electrophoresis, SDS PAGE, bacterial transformation/selection, and DNA purification among others.
