Overseeing student wellbeing and academic care from Reception to Year 12 including boarders and leading an exceptional team to support students and families. Coaching and mentoring teachers in wellbeing and engagement. Overseeing sports and co-curricular programs from 7-12. In May 2020, I was promoted to a leadership position as a Year Coordinator. In this role I was responsible for the welfare, wellbeing and behaviour of 200 students across the Year cohort. This involved working closely with students, parents and teachers to ensure students were thriving and flourishing academically, socially and emotionally and ensuring they were ready to learn. Students must feel a sense of belonging and be mentally healthy to have the best chance of learning. I embedded positive education throughout the College through a Pastoral Care model recognising both welfare and wellbeing on a continuum of prevention and intervention. This ensures students are developing career aspiration and skills, resilience, growth mindsets and emotional intelligence in a progression from Years 7 to Year 12. I have also embedded a staff wellbeing program ‘learn it, live it, embed it’ to further enhance student wellbeing and outcomes.

As a secondary school teacher, I spent my time with students, mostly in Years 7 and 8 teaching History, Geography and English and building strong connections to ensure emotional needs are being met by the school and wider community as well as delivering engaging content to students. Students learn in my classroom by being excited about learning and with a balance of explicit teacher, inquiry and cooperative learning. I am an Instructional Leader in the College utilising my Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher certification which involves coaching and mentoring teachers, running professional development and developing a model of collaboration with the Senior Leadership team.

In January 2020, I took on the role of Pastoral Advisor to Year 7 students. In this role, I worked with 240 students in Year 7 to support their wellbeing and welfare needs. I developed the Pastoral Care model for the College that I continued in the Year 9 Coordinator role. During the time of this role, students were on remote learning due to COVID-19 which required an increased online presence to ensure students were supported during this time socially, emotionally and academically.

In addition to my teaching role, I led the wellbeing and pastoral care of the students and staff at our school. I designed and implemented a Positive Education model into the school since 2016 to foster the social and emotional development of both staff and students, allowing the individual and collective community to thrive and flourish. This has been through programs, change in pedagogy and cultural change. I am now an accredited Cool Kids Instructor through Macquarie University and have presented at three conference on the topic of Student Wellbeing.

As a Primary School Teacher, I educated the hearts and minds of the students I taught. I built solid relationships with students, parents and teachers to ensure a rich learning culture for the students I taught. I had a flexible seating plan to ensure students were engaged in their learning and created engaging curriculum content for the students I taught as well as across the grade, particularly in English, History, Geography, Maths and Religion. In this role, I was recognised as a nationally certified Highly Accomplished Teacher (AITSL).

In this role, I supported the social and emotional development of Primary School students from Kindergarten to Year 6 through running small groups, individual discussions and conversations with parents and teachers. I gained my Cool Kids Accreditation through Macquarie University and led this Cognitive Behaviour Therapy course for primary aged students across the school. I supported families who were transitioning for Military moves, interstate and overseas. I ran Personal Development for teachers and families on student wellbeing.
