During my internship, I participated in champion and game mode development for League of Legends. For champion design, I focused on updating an existing champion, where I examined the character's current gameplay, identified problem behaviors, proposed solutions, and iterated upon proposed solutions.For game mode development, I was responsible for writing the control code for a major neutral monster objective for an upcoming game mode. This included behavior conception, scripting, implementation, and troubleshooting.During my time at Riot, I was also able to participate in the Thunderdome semi-annual hackathon event, during which I worked with a small team to familiarize ourselves with the AI scripting tools used in League of Legends, and to write an AI script for a new champion.Across all positions, I also participated in daily playtests, and gave constructive feedback on both feel and specific structure of both character and game mode projects.

Assisted in the instruction of the following courses in a lab supervisory capacity:Advanced Physics Lab 1 (PHGN 315) x2Advanced Physics Lab 2 (PHGN 326)For both courses, I was the primary in-lab contact point for students, and oversaw the day to day operation of the lab, monitoring both student progress and laboratory safety.Advanced Lab 1 is a course focused around fundamental experimental technique, and my teaching goals were oriented around extending student understanding beyond technical proficiency into an understanding of methodology - how one chooses a techniqe rather than how to preform a particular technique.Advanced Lab 2 focused on more specific laboratory techniques in the fields of nuclear and particle physics. I oversaw the correct use of radioactive sources in lab, and also worked to illuminate the structure of the projects so as to allow the students to have an intuitive understanding of how apparatuses function. My responsibilities included the design, construction, and operation of a unique microscope-based apparatus for microtransmission characterization. I also developed COMSOL multiphysics models to support exploration into novel plasmonic nanostructures, with a strong focus on models which could easily reproduce actual structures and yield results which are directly comparable with experimental measurement.
