Working with children reminds me the basics of communication skills needed in every day life, as well as how to positively approach hard situations. Each day involves communicating with parents, working to grow skills at age appropriate levels, cleaning, strong observations, emotional intelligence, and teaching numbers, letters, shapes, colors, and more.

As a lifeguard and swim instructor, I took on numerous responsibilities revolving around safety and communication with citizens. CPR and First Aid were baseline skills required for these positions. In this role, I learned how to effectively and efficiently communicate with parents, coworkers, and city managers. Teamwork played a big part in this position as well as being able to work together to save lives and keep the pool safe was important.
