As a PhD candidate in the Hamm Lab, I am studying the structural and functional development of context processing (i.e., prioritizing the *unexpected* over the same old, same old) across adolescence, and the relevance of this process to schizophrenia. I have acquired skills in chemogenetics, electrophysiological recordings, calcium imaging, histology, and confocal imaging.

In this role with the policy team at AFSP, I expanded my science communication and science policy skills while following my passion for suicide prevention. During this 120-hr internship, I created research-backed "one-pagers" on firearms policies that prevent suicide, reviewed statutes to identify legislative recommendations, and contributed to written press releases and testimonies as needed.
