I am a Postdoctoral Intramural Research Training Award (IRTA) at The National Institutes of Health (NIH), where I conduct cutting-edge research on the structure and function of the molecular motor, the TonB complex, in antibiotic resistant Gram-negative bacteria. With a PhD in Chemistry and 4+ years of postdoctoral experience, I have developed a strong background and skills in structural biology, biochemistry, and biophysics.My current research involves using advanced techniques such as cryogenic electron microscopy (Cryo-EM), X-ray crystallography, and fast protein liquid chromatography (FPLC) to elucidate the molecular mechanisms and dynamics of the TonB complex, which is essential for bacterial iron uptake and virulence. I also mentor and train graduate and undergraduate students on these techniques and data analysis. My goal is to contribute to the understanding and development of novel strategies to combat antibiotic resistance, a major global health challenge. I am passionate about membrane protein research and eager to collaborate with other researchers and experts in this field.
