I love the support and encouragement SLR consulting provides. I have been given plenty of training and practical experience which is improving my confidence and my skills.I am assisting with bat activity surveys, camera trap surveys, UKHab and NVC habitat surveys, otter surveys, and badger surveys. I also contribute to the reports and write risk assessments for the projects I am involved in.

This role provided me with great experience and many wonderful travel opportunities within Scotland.I improved my digital mapping by creating intricate maps of habitat types and territories of various species. My knowledge of QGIS increased, and I fulfilled many mapping briefs within set timelines.I also assisted in the field which developed my repertoire of tracks and signs, as well as the number of bird and plant species I can identify.

I thoroughly enjoyed working with SLR Consulting. Everyone was friendly, helpful and made me feel like a part of the team straight away. I helped the team in creating digital maps of the client's sites and adding detail to the final reports. The mapping involved converting Phase 1 habitat classification to UK Habitat Classification, with the aid of satellite imagery. To do this, I learned to use the web browser app “sweet for ArcGIS” which was previously unfamiliar to me. Once the mapping was finished, I then wrote descriptions of the sites.
