I have always been interested in the health and well-being of communities, starting my career in mental health policy and Indigenous health programs within the Australian Health System. Having done some volunteer work with international communities during my studies I had always wanted to work in the international development space. Early in my career, I was lucky enough to secure a role with Unicef in child protection research, advocacy and communications in Bangkok and Myanmar. The experience in Myanmar helped transform my career by engaging with child protection at a frontline level, which is why I chose to do the Masters program in Social Work with Erasmus Mundus. Since returning from Europe, I’ve been working in migrant and refugee communities in Sydney, in a community development role. I love working with and supporting children and families. If you can make a difference for one child or family that is the start of making real social change.
