Environment And Sustainability Manager
April 2014 - October 2014Currently providing environmental and sustainability support to a number of tenders including Sydney Light Rail, West Connex M4 widening and gas gathering. June 2011 - April 2014 Stage One Gold Coast Light RailAs the Environment and Sustainability Manager on Stage 1 of the Gold Coast Light Rail Project I was responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of the sustainability management plan and environmental management plan. With a team of up to 7 environment and sustainability advisors, we successfully provided support to the D&C team on an environmentally challenging project in a highly congested environment with works occurring 24 hours a day. I also registered the project with the Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia (ISCA) and have recently achieved an "Excellence" rating for our sustainability performance.Key achievements have been no significant environmental incidents despite working on a spatially constrained alignment in a built up congested area with contaminated soil, acid sulphate soils, protected plant and animal species and cultural heritage aspects along with the usual dust, noise, vibration, sediment and erosion and waste issues. From a sustainability perspective I was successful in developing a sustainability culture on the project, with some 190 potential initiatives identified by the team. Our achievements included diverting 156,000T of waste away from landfill (90% of inert waste was recycled), saved over 44,000T in material through challenging the status quo and reducing our carbon footprint by 5,000T. The project ended up with a verified IS score of 64.4!Another first for the project and team was the development and approval of a compliance management plan under the Transport Infrastructure Act.

Senior Process Engineer
Process Engineer
As the Process Engineer for strategic operations, I was responsible for ensuring the performance of two water supply dams, 5 water treatment plants and 17 wastewater treatment plants met the Corporation's objectives.During this time the NSW EPA introduced load based licencing, I was therefore responsible for successfully negotiating new licences at each treatment plant, which incorporated allowances for future growth within catchment areas.I also represented the Corporation on the Biosolids Management Taskforce and oversaw a project to develop a comprehensive biosolids management strategy to lead the corporation to a 100% reuse target.Additionally I was responsible for project managing consultancies involved in the detail design and documentation of wastewater treatment plants.
