ANNA SEGAL, Composer / Performer Critically acclaimed composer Anna Segal belongs to a new generation of Israeli composers: An unusual,versatile composer in various disciplines - Symphonic and Chamber music, solo concertos,Lieder with Orchestra, Choir works and even Chansons. Her compositions were already performed in many countries.Born in Ukraine, she began studying piano and composition at the age of 5.After graduating from music school and college with degrees in piano and musicology,she later studied composition at The Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine. After immigrating to Israel, she studied at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, and graduated in Composition (M.A.) under Prof. Ami Maayani.Anna Segal is a member of ACUM and The Israel Composers' League (ICL). She is a recipient of the America-Israel Cultural Foundation Scholarship. Her works are regularly performed by many orchestras, ensembles and soloists: Berliner Symphoniker (conducted by Maestro Lior Shambadal at The Berlin Philharmonie), Ukraine National Philharmonic Orchestra, The Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, Irkutsk Philharmonic Orchestra,Daego Chamber Orchestra (Korea), Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra, The Raanana Symphonette, Uwe Komischke (Germany), Ramon Jaffe (Germany), The Israel Stage Orchestraand Başkent Chamber Orchestra in Turkey - among others.Other highlights include her chamber piece "Overtones of the Night"- that won the first prize, and was performed at the Modern Music Festival in Korea and in 2009,"Cabaret Macbeth" (Dir. Dani Ehrlich) - that was performed as part of the Experimental Art festival in Tel-Aviv and at Felicja Blumental Music Center (2011), music for the award-winning movie "Night Shift" (Dir.
