I am a Psychiatric RN at THIRA Health, as well as a student at Rush University College of Nursing working towards a DNP with a specialty of Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). My passion lies in preventative care and understanding how stigma impacts individuals with mental illness, particularly those with substance use disorders, as well as seeking innovation in mental health treatment. Ultimately, my goal is to provide psychotherapy and medication management care as a PMHNP. Furthermore, I am deeply intrigued by research concerning psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy and would love to explore how I can incorporate this practice to complement my future work as a PMHNP.At Johns Hopkins School Of Nursing (JHSON), I served as a Graduate Research Assistant on Dr. Brockie’s research projects, both independently and through the Research Honors Program. This work focuses on reducing suicide rates among Native American youth through a variety of mechanisms, including the implementation of a summer education program that provides many opportunities for academic and professional growth. During my time on Dr. Brockie's research team, I have had the privilege of co-authoring one paper, published in Creative Nursing. Additionally, I have taken on the role of primary author and reviewer for a scoping review project entitled “Cultural Interventions Aimed at Reducing Suicidality in Native American Communities” which is pending submission. In my capacity as President and Treasurer of the Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing Interest Group, I actively engaged in promoting and advancing positive mental health practices. Additionally, I held a leadership role as a member of the JHSON Ethics Board, through which I contributed to the promotion of academic integrity throughout the school community.Before attending JHSON, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Washington, Seattle. During this period, I worked in neuropsychopharmacological research primarily focused on the relationship between adolescent alcohol or cannabis use and subsequent reward processing. I also gained clinical experience as an Intake Specialist at Telos Transformational Therapies, a clinic specializing in administering Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy. I'm excited about the possibilities that lie ahead and welcome opportunities to connect and collaborate on mental health initiatives or discuss research prospects in the field!
