An interesting role, spanning the separation of Irish Life and Permanent TSB, the Government shareholding, and subsequent sale to Great West LifeCo. I was part of a small and very effective team that prepared the annual report and statutory audit. The role involved financial control of subsidiary, associate and joint venture annual and interim returns. It also involved group policy design for application of IFRS’s/ IAS’s across the group. I am now confident in all things IFRS and GAAP, whether it be insurance liability classification for balance sheet reporting, analysing corporate structures for presentation purposes of subs, associates or joint arrangements, and holding company legislation.
