Working within a small team gave me the opportunity to gain experience in a number of areas. My roles and responsibilities included preparing monthly and annual financials for 7 farming entity’s and an Irrigation company, monthly bank reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, preparing and lodging Business Activity Statements, assisting in human resources, payroll etc. assisting in miscellaneous financial analysis, and using MYOB and QuickBooks.

Working in the University of Tasmania finance department as the finance cadet gave me a great deal of extra experience to help complement my studies whilst completing my bachelor of business. My roles and responsibilities included assisting in the undertaking of quarterly fringe benefits tax reviews, reconciliation and preparation of the university’s fringe benefit tax return, reviewing transactions, reconciling and preparing the university’s Business Activity Statement, assisting in the reconciliation of suspense accounts and initiating action to ensure amounts were cleared on a timely basis and that reconciliations were adequately documented, assisting in the reconciliation of the University’s investment accounts and assisting in accounts receivable.

Gunns Plantations was my first office job and helped me build my time management, communication and team work skills. My roles and responsibilties included processing and assessment of investment applications into Managed Investment Schemes, liaising with financial advisers in the assessment of investment loan applications, assisting in the accounts payable department, including payment of commissions to financial advisers and various administration-related payments, office administration including record-keeping, answering investment-related queries and day to day customer service.
