I led on a wide range of policy areas to support new Local Plans and regeneration strategies and processed planning applications for large-scale urban regeneration projects. Key projects I led on are set out below: London Borough of Tower Hamlets Local Plan 2031: I led the development of new planning policies governing open space, urban greening, water spaces, biodiversity, community, cultural and social facilities for this local plan. I analysed consultation responses and prepared the plans consultation summary statements, duty to cooperate statement and local development scheme statement for the plans submission to the Secretary of State.London Borough of Merton - Estates Local Plan 2018: I led several policy areas to support the preparation of this plan to support the regeneration of Ravensbury, High Path and Eastfield’s estates to enable the delivery of over 1,000 new homes. London Borough of Merton - Morden Housing Zone: I supported the development of a new strategy to enable the regeneration of Morden Town Centre to deliver 1,070 new homes. I worked with a team to successfully secure £42m in funding from the Mayor of London to support this project. Royal Borough of Greenwich - Greenwich Millennium Village: I acted as the lead major projects senior planner responsible for processing all planning consent applications and negotiating affordable housing and infrastructure contributions from developers. The development delivered 3,000 residential units, 6,548 square meters of office space, and 2,325 square meters of retail property. The development was designed to high sustainability standards and utilised green building materials and incorporated passive solar architecture, high-grade insulation and a co-generation power plant.
Policy Analyst, Resource Management Planning.
The Resource Management Planning Team is responsible for helping the Ministry deliver advice to the government on the resource management system. The team delivers technical planning policy advice and the ministries consultation and engagement programme with local government throughout New Zealand. My position involved the analysis, development and advice of resource management policy, chiefly on plan making provisions within the Resource Management Act 1991 (RMA). My key responsibilities were as follows: Quality Planning (QP) Website Programme Project Manager: The QP website is the primary tool for delivering robust best practice information on RMA processes and policy to resource management practitioners. The website contains 74 best practice guidance notes. I ensured guidance was fit for purpose and dealt with public and local government enquiries regarding the guidance. Additionally I managed MfE’s relationships with the QP partners. Policy-lead on Plan making provisions for the Resource Legislation Amendment Bill 2015:The Resource Legislation Amendment Bill (the Bill) was introduced to Parliament on 26 November 2015. I was a policy lead on changes to plan making provisions outlined below:•Electronic servicing of documents.•Public notices.•The preparation of combined documents with Regional Policy Statements.•The Collaborative Planning Process. •Implications of resource consent changes on plan making.MfE Planning Recommendations lead - Productivity Commission Report on Using Land for Housing: The Producitivty commission made recommendations to the government and councils which aim to improve the responsiveness of the planning system. MfE along with other government agencies deliver advice to ministers regarding these recommendations. My role within this was to lead input from MfE on responses to planning recommednations for reporing to ministers.
