I am a General Psychology Major. At this Internship I worked as a classroom aide. I was in various classroom with various teachers that are now apart of my professional network. At the center I focused on watching the physical and mental development of children and using what I had learned in my Psychology Courses. I specifically focused on the children's development at the JCC, because it is not a traditional school setting. The mental health components of the students were to be treated holistically and to focus on the core values of the Jewish Community. I think this approach worked and that the students adjusted to it well. I think the students outcome from attending the JCC will impact them greatly and that they may be better suited for the mental demands of the world. I know they were taught many coping mechanisms and ways to take care of them self and may be able to stay more open minded because of the Jewish values they were taught at the JCC.
